So, the weekend basically begins like this: it’s Thursday, September 8th, 5 p.m., and the Rent the Runway College Team has a mini van parked by the freight elevator at our New York City office. They’ve got 100 designer dresses from the warehouse, 3 bags of  jewelry, and boxes and boxes full of swag, a.k.a. RTR pink nail polishes, sunglasses, and discount cards.

The group starts off the Boston festivities the next Friday morning, ready to show Brandeis College the fabulous collection of RTR items they’ve brought by throwing a trunk show.

Two of the Brandeis Runway Reps greet the College Team as they arrive, and help transform the student center into every girl’s dream closet. Girls enter the room, giddy to try on the gorgeous dresses and jewelry, happily posing for the RTR camera.

After the fun dress-up party at Brandeis, the college team loads the van back up and heads toward their next stop: Harvard University. The Runway Reps there, Caroline, Li, and Jennifer, have the Winthrop house prepped for the Team’s next trunk show, welcoming students from all over campus to the event. Joining the RTR College Team in hosting this event is the Lancome beauty team. Representatives from the cosmetics company fluff their brushes, grab their magic wands (a.k.a. Lancome Hypnose mascara), and get to work giving students free makeovers for their Friday night out.

Before the College Team ends their day, they make one last stop at Boston University, Lancome reps in tow. Dresses are displayed on the racks and Lancome artists set up their station ready to beautify the girls of BU.

As much fun as the College Team has dressing up and hosting trunk shows, they’re excited to change into their RTR t-shirts and jeans on Saturday for College Fest at the famous baseball stadium, Fenway Park. The girls pile out of the mini van, RTR gear in hand, and set up their booth at the Park, ready to meet and greet girls from all Boston campuses.

Mobs of girls make their way to the RTR booth, wanting to receive their free goodies and learn more about the Runway Rep program. The team has a blast meeting girls from all over the city and introducing them to their dream wardrobe.

On Sunday, the Team heads to Northeastern University to hold an informational session, educating girls about the opportunity to become a Runway Rep and the possibilities it presents for careers in the fashion industry. After, the Team quickly makes their way across town to Boston College. The girls of BC welcome the Team at a nearby venue, RTR decorations in place, ready for dresses and garment racks to be set up. The trunk show is a hit as BC Runway Reps help style invited girls in RTR items.

Before the Team leaves the city on Monday, they hold one more informational session at Wellesley College, presenting the Runway Rep program to the college’s fashion club. The girls are eager and happy to hear about the exciting positions they can take on as a Runway Rep team.

It’s hard to say goodbye to the girls and the city, but the College Team has a lot more trips to make so the garment bags and jewelry pouches need to be zipped up and closed sooner than later. Don’t worry, Boston…we’ll be back!
