When you read this, it will be another fabulous morning for me in Baltimore, as I prep for next week’s formal. I know this event is going to be one to remember. Why? Well, the venue is sure to be fabulous – we don’t know it since it’s secret – and my sisters always look gorgeous. In the final part of our three week expose on dressing the part of a glamazon for formal, we’ll talk about something just as important as the dress. Jewelry – it’s what probably isn’t in your closet. Lucky for you, me, and every other girl who can never have enough jewelry, RTR carries tons upon tons of jewelry options to brighten up any look. The signature of the season is a statement piece.
Perhaps the best example of using a statement piece is the above picture of Nicole Kidman at the Oscars. She paired a simple black dress with a long necklace dripping with diamonds, natural makeup, a simple coif, and effectively made herself ooze high fashion and sophistication. The best part about jewelry – it looks good on everyone!
For the girl who wants to elongate her neckline, a long necklace does just that, drawing attention towards your face and the gorgeous curves of the neck.
If you’re looking for a more sneaky way to draw attention to your fabulous facial features, you can always go for earrings. The only problem that arises with earrings is that they can sometimes be incredibly heavy and weigh down your night. Expert shopping tip: check out the reviews on RTR, they speak to everything from the weight of the earrings to how comfortable they are when dancing.

A good drop earring produces the same fabulous effect as a long necklace. This Teardrop Pearl earring by Nicole Miller is a perfect example of something classy yet comfy.
The best part about earrings? They come in all shapes and sizes, so you can work all kinds of miracles in showcasing your natural beauty. These Jet Fringe Fan earrings are perfect for bringing the attention up towards your ears and your cheekbones.
Beyond earrings and necklaces, some women delve into rings and bracelets. Personally, those are not my forte. I know a chunky bracelet can look nice with a simple dress, but I also question if they overwhelm a dainty wrist like mine. So for advice on bracelets, I’ll turn to one of my fellow bloggers to ask for a post specifically addressing the virtues of dressing with bracelets. Rings are another story – I already wear four, each with a specific, symbolic reason behind it. One is my high school class ring, another a ring from my aunt, one a ring from my parents, and another from my mom’s uncle, who had quite the role in raising my siblings and myself. But if I did pick a ring to pair with a formal dress, I would go for a beautiful cocktail ring just like this:

The Erickson Beamon Chain Gang Ring elevates any simple dress to supermodel proportions with a shimmer and shine.
Using Rent the Runway will keep you wallet full and outfit accessorized! So the conclusion I want for each of you to take away this formal season is to have your own Cinderella moment. Put on a dress that showcases what makes you unique and outstanding. Pair it with the perfect accessories, maybe you just need a statement necklace or earrings, or maybe you’re super trendy and know how to rock a cocktail ring or a bracelet. Go on, be radiant, be bold, be beautiful!
Until next time,
