On Friday, October 14th, over 150 people gathered in Davenport College to enjoy the hottest fashion show of the year: Pretty in Pink! The first Pretty in Pink Fashion show began 2 years ago in a collaboration with Colleges Against Cancer to raise funds for  breast cancer awareness and research.

Featuring pink clothing and accessories from local clothing retailers, student designers, and of course, Rent the Runway, this year’s show boasted numerous partnerships with student performing groups, food vendors, and trendy New Haven club, Box 63.

Guests were pleasantly surprised by the goodie bags handed out at the show’s ticket table, which included coupons from local establishments like FroyoWorld, the Little Salad Shop, and Campus Customs Bookstore. At the start of the show, Yale’s Bhangra Indian Dance team provided a colorful introduction to the runway, which was set up down the length of Davenport’s dining hall and festively trimmed with Christmas lights and pink balloons.

Several photographers from the student fashion group YCouture, the campus-wide newspaper Yale Daily News, and the local Jack Wills store, were documenting the spectacle. The models, revved up on the “boob” shortbread cookies that were handed out during hair and make-up prep, provided a flawless performance on the catwalk, strutting in stylish outfits from Jack Wills, Raggs Fashions for Men, and the Yale Bookstore.

However, Rent the Runway’s fashionable contributions sparkled the most, as models like our own lovely Julia, Anya, and Maeve helped finish off the show’s finale. Post-applause, the fun continued at Box 63’s afterparty, organized by Rent the Runway’s dedicated marketing rep Erica. Overall, Pretty in Pink was a huge success for both spreading awareness of both breast cancer and fashion.
