With so many youtube channels and tutorials all over the internet I think it is very important to have one source you can always depend on (just like there are so many stores and boutiques all over, but there are only a few that lay close to your heart that you can depend on in any fashion emergency). For me, my internet beauty consultant is my dear friend Carli. I have seen her grow from a high school student who always had the girls begging her to fix their hair and makeup, to an up and coming makeup artist and business woman! She is the best kept secret that is about to be out. I asked Carli a few questions and here is a little look into what she has accomplished, as well as a couple of her beauty secrets:
Q: What do you think the most important thing to remember is when talking about hair care?
For me, the most important thing is to protect from damage! I have extremely curly, frizzy, dry hair, so for me, deep conditioning and hair serums are an absolute must. My absolute favorite product for this is Argan Oil. It is a bit pricey, but the oil can be used for dry skin as well, SO worth it.
Q: What is your go to hairstyle for class, a night out, a formal occasion?
I’m a strong believer that if your hair looks good, everything else falls together… even if you’re in sweat pants. If my hair is blown out nicely, I feel acceptable. I love big loose curls and TONS of volume. Of course we all have lazy days, so a sleek high bun always works too!
Q: What is your favorite beauty product right now?
My absolute favorite beauty product right now is my whitening lightning super booster pen! I’ve had it a few weeks, and my teeth have gotten SO white. I have extremely sensitive gums, so when it comes to whitening my teeth, I’ve never been successful. This pen is awesome because I can apply it at night-time, and it works while I sleep. In just 14 days, I noticed my teeth got at least 10 shades lighter. Q: What hairstyles do you see making their way back for the winter?
Tons of big loose waves/curls. We saw a lot of this in the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. I’m a huge fan of soft bouncy curls. Too much hairspray is so 1990′s.
Q: Do you think there are any hair fads right now that will be going in or out of style?
The ombre hair color style has gotten extremely popular this past year. It screams summer time, so I can almost guarantee this coming summer (2012), this gorgeous hair trend will be all over the place! My favorite ombre look is a medium brown base that fades to a caramel color.
Q: How did you get started?
I was always into art growing up, so when I turned 13, makeup was so interesting to me. I started growing my MAC collection and would just sit in front of the mirror practicing on myself! It wasn’t until my junior year of high school that I actually started my own business. It helped that I was a cheerleader and new a ton of girly girls! By word of mouth, my business has grown into such an amazing thing. I’m so flattered by all the positive feedback I have been receiving. It makes all this worthwhile. I love knowing that I am helping girls feel more beautiful and good about themselves! That’s my main goal. To make anyone and everyone feel beautiful. Inside and out, of course. Just 3 months ago I began making youtube tutorials, and I’ve been really successful with that as well. It’s all about networking and forming connections with my clients.
Q: Tell us about your brand and website…
I know many people have different definitions and visions of the word ‘beauty’… but mine is different. I think beauty really does come from within, so basically I set up my facebook page, website, and now youtube channel, to help any girl learn some super easy steps that can help transform any insecurities that may be holding her back from showing her TRUE beauty. When it comes to makeup I’ve very rarely followed the rules. Ive always been a trial and error type girl … so thousands of dollars later I pretty much can say I’ve tried at least 10, maybe 15, products from every brand (from face wash to makeup to hair dye). I get bored easily so I’m like your guinea pig for all kinds of every day needs.
