Happy Winter Break my friends! Finals are over and new classes are ahead! But that is way too far in the future to even think about. After a couple days of catching up on some much needed zzz’s, have you thought about how you are going to spend the rest of your break? Of course, there will be lots of holiday parties and events to attend, but Christmas season is only half the break! How about you try some of these fun ideas to spice up your holiday. I know these may seem unoriginal, but give them a try, because you don’t want to come back from break and have to answer the “what did you do over break question” with a dead serious “nothing…”
1) Volunteer
Meet new people while doing something good for the soul. Come on. Just give it a try. Walk puppies in the snow or hand out Christmas cookies to the elderly…whatever you choose, it will get you out of bed and make for a break well spent!
2) Reconnect with old friends
Tons of your friends from high school will be coming back home. Why not send them a text and go hang out?
3) Read a book (that is actually interesting to you!)
I still have yet to read The Hunger Games and I have been saving the trilogy to read during break! I cannot wait to get my hands on something besides a textbook.
4) Go to the gym…
No longer having the convenience of the school gym during the season when you need it most sucks. Who came up with that grand idea?! Well no worries! Most gyms do a special monthly membership, especially if you mention you are a college student home for the holidays. Go get your workout on so you can eat a couple extra slices of pie
5) Do something you can only do in the winter
Ski. Snowboard. Sled. Have a snowball fight. Build a snowman. Eat some snow…Come on! Even if you have to drive a couple hours to find some snow, it will be worth it!
Sleeping in and not having to do any homework (unlike those poor, poor high school students) really is grand, but after a couple days you are just wasting your break away! So get out of bed and do something fun and new. Make this the best break yet!
