I remember when I was twelve years old… I was awkward. I had braces. And I had never even heard of Electronic Dance Music. Well… When Robbert van de Corput was twelve years old he had already begun to DJ. He had been watching MTV and was immediately drawn to the music. With the support of his parents and illegal downloads (oops!) he became more and more experienced as a disk jockey. By the age of fourteen, he signed for his first record deal! You might be wondering who this Robbert fellow is. Along with being our featured DJ of the week, he is the internationally known, award winning DJ and producer, Hardwell! Oh right, did I mention that he’s only 23!?
During a video interview Hardwell noted that Armin Van Buuren, Chuckie, and Tiësto were among the DJs that had initially inspired him. His tracks stem from a trance, electro, progressive, house music genre. By avoiding labeling his particular music, he has continuously been able to reach out to a variety of people. Regardless of any guy or gal’s taste in music, you can be sure that they will be bopping with the beats that he lays down.
The sky is the limit for this international superstar! He started off on the DJ MAG Top 100 list at #24! Incredible!! And with his long-time idol, Tiësto, the two were able to produce pure brilliance with Zero 76. Without a doubt, he is a key figure in the upcoming generation of DJs.
This Hardwell takeover is truly unreal. We all know by now that he is headlining for the Winter White Tour this coming February (New Englanders, get your white fluffies on!). He will also be at the Main Stage for this year’s Ultra Music Festival, so for all of you girls that booked your flights to Miami for that weekend, be sure to visit him!
Interestingly enough, Hardwell really takes into consideration the venue, the crowd, and the overall atmosphere. He is a man for the people and only wants to create and facilitate the ambience for the EDM audience. From February 15th to the 25th, Hardwell will be winning over thousands of new fans throughout the ten states that he is DJing in. A non-stop rage fest.
Oh, right… I may have forgotten to mention. HARDWELL IS ONE OF THE NEWEST RESIDENT DJs IN VEGAS! Hey Marquee Hey! Such a great reason to book a ticket and head to Las Vegas.
If you are are curious as to why Hardwell claims that January 23rd is a massive day for EDM, then I will let you in on a little secret. Hardwell launched his newest hit “Spaceman!” It has climbed the charts since its release and is now at #4 on Beatport! It has barely been a week!
