Last week I finished my two midterms, gave a speech, and realized I was still stressed. How could I still be stressed when I was done with school and going on Spring break?! What was I still stressing about? Oh yeah – I had no idea what to wear to my fashion interviews in New York in two weeks. Finding the perfect outfit for any occasion always stresses me out and finding an outfit for fashion internship interviews in New York was no exception. I am always worried about finding a super cute outfit and spending too much money (which is one of the reasons I love RTR). After one dismal day of shopping, I persisted a second day and finally found a great outfit for my interviews. Through my long shopping escapade, I learned some key things to always keep in mind while searching for an interview outfit, which might help you out.

1. Make your outfit represent YOU

For me, I found a classic high-waisted knee-length pencil skirt with a button-up blouse, which tucked in at the waist. My outfit also had a bright monochromatic color palate. This outfit not only allowed me to look classy and formal, it helped me to present myself in a stylish and memorable way given its bold look and coloring.

2. Dress in current trends

Since fashion this season is all about color blocking and bright colors, I chose a lime colored skirt (which is a little different shade in the picture, oops) and a bright yellow blouse. I made sure that my outfit colors stayed in the same shade range and did not make me look like a highlighter.

3. Feel comfortable

The most important thing is to make sure you fell comfortable and to be yourself. My outfit represented who I am as a person and it makes me feel poised and ready to take on anything!

Purchasing this outfit helped me finally calm down and stop stressing out about what to wear. Now I feel confident and I am ready to interview!  I cannot wait to interview!

Wish me luck!
