As someone with extremely curly hair, I know it is a struggle to find best way to tame curls! When I was younger, my mom used to try to brush my curls out. My elementary school photos are proof of that!
After trial and error with different products I found out that works best for my hair. Along with help from TIGI’s Catwalk Curls Rock, Curl Amplifier, I have gained a few pointers through the years on how to tame curly hair.
You’re hairdresser is your best friend. You are paying them to provide you with the look you want. Make sure you clearly explain the look you are going for. Starting every season off with a trim will get rid of your damaged ends which helps minimize frizz!
Moisture. Conditioning is necessary for restoring moisture to your hair to combat frizz. Deep conditioning on a regular basis will help prevent your curls from straying in humidity. Rinsing out your conditioner with cold water will help lock in the moisture.
Find the right product. Experiment with different products. See which react best to your curls. There are so many different products; if one helps with the definition of your curls and another with taming the frizz, try mixing them!
Embrace your curls! The heat of blow-dryers and flat irons will only add to the dryness and frizz. Learn how to enjoy your hair when it comes out a little bigger, or curlier than you had hoped.
