Summer is so close you already begin to feel the sun on your face. But let’s get serious for a minute. Every girl is looking for different ways to lose those last couple of pounds, get their pre-tan on and update their wardrobe. So let’s break it down.
Getting rid of those last pounds can be difficult. Sometimes going to the gym, and cutting carbs and fatty foods just doesn’t cut it. But ladies, there’s still more you can do. Walking everywhere will help maintain your metabolism. Keeping your metabolism up will help your body to breakdown the food you eat at healthy rate. Don’t be lazy and take the stairs. Those stairs will help burn calories and improve your booty; it never hurts to firm and lift that booty. If you have to drive, park as far as you can; you’ll be walking twice as much and feel a lot better about yourself. Exercising releases endorphins, endorphins make people happy and happy people live a prettier and healthier, longer life. These little things will add up and will be in your favor.
Wanting to lose weight doesn’t mean don’t eat; in contrary not eating will do more damage to you than you think. If your body doesn’t get a minimum of 1000 calories, it causes your metabolism to slowly decrease. So you remember all those stairs, walking, and running you just did, they would be for nothing if you don’t eat. The body needs energy from food to function. Not eating the proper veggies, fruits, and hate to say it but healthy fat oils can damage your hair, nails and skin. This is so much easier in the summer. No one really wants to eat hot food; it’s too hot outside. Stick to those yummy salads topping with some grilled chicken, feta cheese, avocados, and walnuts, topped with a reduced fat vinaigrette dressing. If this doesn’t call to you, that’s why you have full control over your salad toppings; think of it like an ice cream bar but way healthier. Some of my best memories of the summer are at BBQs. This is when staying healthy gets really difficult. The important thing is not to feel guilty. You need to have a break once in a while. So if you want a cheeseburger have one. What I do is I try to top it with healthy stuff like reduced mayo, avocado, and reduced sugar ketchup. And you know what, I don’t feel as guilty and I get to stay healthy. The best part of all this is that it is completely okay to cut corners sometimes. You know what I mean. We girls are consistently craving something; whether it be something sweet, salty, or sour. If you wait too long or try to completely cut it out of your diet, you will eventually breakdown and eat a lot more of it than if you were to have had a small piece in the first place. This being said, I’m not saying eat a carton of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in one sitting or have 3 slices of pizzas or 3 cheeseburgers but give yourself a couple of spoonfuls to satisfy that craving or even froyo. Froyo will change your life. The bottom line is is portion control. Have some and enjoy it. Last advice, drink lots of water. Hydration is key to a healthy vibrant complexion. Especially in the sun, water will be needed as much as you can get it. You’ll thank me, but most importantly your skin will thank you.
Remember, first impression makes a lasting impression. We all have a great inner-self we want to show, and no better way to get people interested to find what we are made of than looking absolutely ravishing. There is nothing wrong with fair skin, but to be honest every girl loves the glow of a summer tan. The important thing to remember is to be safe. Tanning beds are more harmful than you think. Skin cancer has become one of the leading causes of deaths now-a-days. Spray tanning is a waste of money, especially in the summer. Alongside the water and sweat warm weather brings, that tan will wash away, literally! If you want that color, be smart and use sun block. Apply it before you hit the sun and you will still get the same color you would if you went tanning in a bed or spray tanning. Best part while you catch up on your tan and vitamin D you can read a book you’ve been meaning to start, listen to music, hang out with friends or even just relax soaking up that sun. Who wouldn’t rather be doing that than be stuck in a machine listening to the humming noise coming out of it.
There are so many things going on in the summer, who wants to wear the same outfit more than once; especially if those pictures are going to be on Facebook. There’s that 4th of July BBQ that you plan on watching the fireworks with that special person, or that wedding you’re going to hoping one day it’ll be you or a summer vacation you plan on showing off how hard you’ve worked throughout the year. Whatever it may be, why not look stunning everytime. Rent the Runway lets you do that.
