Cornell Fashion Show

The RTR Cornell team was very excited to co-sponsor a fashion show event with Cornell Panhellenic, the largest Greek organization on campus.  Panhell encompasses all 12 Cornell sororities and is the major decision-making organization for female Greek life.  The event took place in Alice Statler Auditorium in the Hotel School, and showcased RTR’s designer looks on 24 girls, with 2 members of each of the 12 houses’ newest member pledge classes modeling the pieces.  Several hundred girls attended the event, which encouraged tons of new member sign ups on RTR.  We were also able to distribute plenty of RTR swag – many girls in the audience were thrilled about their new hot pink nail polish and sunglasses – which helped to boost the RTR buzz around campus.

In addition, the RTR team has been actively tabling for promotional events around campus, as well as disseminating promotional codes via creative social media platforms and tailored marketing messages to student groups on campus.

The final event of the Semester that RTR Cornell’s reps are involved in is the largest student-run event in the Ivy League: The 28th Annual Cornell Fashion Collective Runway Show, taking place Saturday, April 28th at 7 pm in Barton Hall.  The Cornell Fashion Collective is an entirely student run organization of fashion designers and management students, dedicated to the production of a professional runway fashion show each spring.  Students handle all the promotional activity, manage relationships with vendors, source their own fabrics, design all the pieces, model the looks and even design and construct the runway itself.  Rent the Runway sponsored the fashion show through providing promotional discounts to designers and CFC members, allowing student designers to wear high-end designer dresses as they’re showing off their own collections.  The President of the Cornell Fashion Collective is also Co-Manager of RTR Cornell’s campus team, and she will be wearing RTR at the event to promote the brand.

The Cornell Runway Reps will continue to promote the brand with more long-term strategies and co-sponsorships with other student organizations on Campus.  RTR Cornell intends to continue building stronger relationships with Cornell Panhellenic, in order to continue targeting members of the Greek community with exciting events like the new member fashion show.  RTR Cornell also will continue to foster new relationships with local Ithaca boutiques and fashion brands in order to encourage larger scale outreach for the Cornell and Ithaca community.
