As the school year comes to a close, it seems as though college students breathe a collective sigh of relief as the stress of finals, term papers and grades is suddenly lifted from their soldiers. Unfortunately, as classes end, as does another semester of fun opportunities to get dressed up, such as benefit dances, sorority and fraternity formals and other coveted school traditions. Although these events are often a lot of fun once you actually arrive to the venue, I think most girls can agree that choosing a fabulous outfit and getting ready is often the best part of the night. Luckily for some lucky women living in northern California, the opportunity to choose the perfect evening gown is fast approaching as the annual Black and White Ball is set to take place on June 1st. This ball, benefiting the San Francisco Symphony’s music education program, takes place at the War Memorial Performing Arts Center and City Hall in the heart of downtown San Francisco.

As the suggested dress is black tie or black and white evening attire, young women attending the fundraiser have the opportunity to show off their personal style in an elegant and sophisticated manner. For you to stand out in a sea of black and white, it is important that your ensemble features something special that will set you apart from all the other women in long black dresses. Here are some beautiful pieces to help maintain individuality while still fitting into the specific attire guidelines.

This beautiful yet edgy Vera Wang floor length dress with a ruched bodice is sure to be noticed with its stunning embellishment atop the one shoulder neckline. On the other hand, this Alberta Ferretti dress, although more demure in front, features an unexpected criss-cross back that is sure to turn heads.

No matter what dress you choose, remember to accessorize with a great pair of earings, such as these crystal drops by Gerard Yosca or a glamorous clutch, such as this one by Whiting and Davis to bring the entire outfit together.
