School’s out and summer has just begun! It’s time to reach far back into those drawers of yours, find your favorite bikini, and race to the lake! As you and your girlfriends are soaking up the sun, it occurs to you that this may be your last summer at home. You’ll be busy with Study Abroad next summer and hopefully *fingers crossed* will be offered an internship the following year. With all this in mind, you find yourself asking, “What can we do to make our last summer together one to remember?”

1) Get that perfect-bronzed tan

Before you go crazy with that tanning oil, give your skin a few days to adjust to the sun and form a base. Trust me, it’s not fun looking like a lobster for a week just because you were too anxious to get some color!

2) Summer Concerts

Try for your favorite outdoor music theater. Summer concerts are most enjoyable when hanging out and dancing on the lawn with your friends. Not to mention, this is a great way to meet people!

3) Have a Picnic

Everyone loves a great picnic, so invite your friends over for an easy meal. Complement your meal with some delicious summer favorites like Watermelon, Corn on the cob, and Coleslaw…Don’t forget the lemonade!

4) Lazy days at the Beach

Although summer is the time to “lay back and let loose,” you may find yourself wound up in your summer job. Here’s some advice: Give yourself a break on the weekends, and spend some time reading your trashy  favorite book (50 Shades of Grey, obvi) as you lounge at the beach.

5) Weekend Getaways

Weekends are the perfect time to pack up and leave your stresses behind. Spend your weekend at Cedar Point’s Amusement Park, Traverse City’s Cherry Festival, or Lollapalooza in Chicago. <— That’s where I’ll be!

6) Face your Fears

Do something crazy! Push the limits! Tell your crush you like him or do something thrilling. I may or may not have snuck into a Kiddie Camp at night and jumped off the high dive into the lake…… and let me say, I would do it again!

Last but not least, be sure to surround yourself with friends and family. It’s not about what you do; it’s about who you do it with!
