Let’s be honest: no one wants to be the first person at the party. To be fashionably late, try some of these ideas to keep you occupied before you head out for the night.

-        Hit a sporting event- This is a great idea for a casual date or if you want to include a few guys in your group. Baseball is in season right now, so check to see who is playing in y our area and grab tickets! Baseball games usually last for two hours and forty minutes, but you don’t have to stay the whole game. A fun idea is to dress in team colors if you want to avoid wearing a tee shirt. Also, they usually have group deals of some sort, which reduce the ticket prices.

-       Go to a concert – See if anyone is playing in some of the local venues in your area (bars, lounges, concert venues, stadiums) and check out the show, even if you haven’t heard of the artist before. Feel free to check out their music beforehand to learn the words, but if it’s a spontaneous idea make sure the music is a genre you like. Who knows, you may stumble upon the next big thing!

-       See the Ballet – If you are in the New York City area, you can purchase student tickets for the ballet for only fifteen dollars. Even though you are paying less than full price, you still get great seats.

-       Explore a new restaurant - Instead of going out to eat at a familiar place, check out Yelp! or Urbanspoon for other great restaurants in your area.

Try these ideas or come up with your own before you hit the town this weekend. These will ensure you have a great time before the night gets started. Also, be sure to Rent the Runway for the perfect dress for your weekend activities.
