Much to my initial surprise, there actually is something pretty powerful about literally just giving someone your number and asking them to “call you maybe.” And if you’re skeptical, look no further than the Billboard charts, where “Call Me Maybe” sits comfortably at #1. Since I’m no musical expert, nor am I a dating expert, I’m going to focus on the broader picture, the way you can put your best foot forward. You can then get that special someone to call you a lot more than just maybe. I think it helps to start with some inspiration. For those of you who aren’t Bollywood fanatics, meet Kunal Kapoor, one of my favorite actors and arguably my first and longest lasting crush (seven years strong).

Let's pretend that age is just a number for a moment.

I’m not a supermodel, and by no means am an actress, so the probability of me actually ever meeting my dream guy and falling irrevocably in love with him are slim to none, perhaps this is why I’ve shifted the objects of my affections to Dior Haute Couture.

All I can say is yes pleaseeee, I would love to wear that dress

And since I am comfortable admitting that I don’t have casual millions of dollars to spend on an annual wardrobe of one-of-a-kind couture pieces, I try to go for the next best thing: fashion straight from what I think of as a top stylist’s closet whenever I need it. It also doesn’t hurt that my wallet is still in tact and I’m not selling my textbooks for grocery money. Still don’t know what I’m talking about? Rent the Runway, obviously!

Rent the Runway is short for "all my hopes and dreams packaged into one little website"

I have said this before, and I’ll say it again, the key to looking like a supermodel is feeling like one. My favorite dresses of all time from Rent the Runway happen to mostly be Herve Leger. Why? If you’ve ever tried one of the beautiful gowns on, it’s like stepping into a pair of super spanx, but you can still breathe. Once the dress is zipped up, you’re instantly glamorous– your “problem areas” are gone, and it’s an instant confidence boost.

probably the only reason I want to go back to school--date parties with my Pi Phi sisters!

The Herve Leger Electronika dress (pictured above) is my absolute new favorite dress. Ever. I have rented Herve Leger twice, and I have had such a positive experience that I sometimes just call the dresses my “Herve’s” as if I’m on a first name basis with the fictitious wish-granting legend, Herve Leger. There is no occasion that an Herve dress can’t fit- date party, formal, birthday dinner, bachelorette party, you name it, you’ll look great.Pair this particular Herve dress with a pair of gold shoes a flashy earring, and my favorite hairstyle, the topknot, and you’re good to go!

Wear these gold pumps, from Aldo Shoes, for the perfect leg lengthening strategy. Put your best foot forward, literally!

I try not to match my jewelry and my shoes perfectly, because I try to go for a bit of a more quirky look. If you’re game for that level of a fashion risk (and fear not, it’s not a particularly huge one) take the plunge with Badgley Mischka’s Black Cluster Crystal earrings.

All the pow without the pain: a lightweight earring with major look-at-me factor

Last but not least, we should have a brief chat about hair and makeup. I have long hair, so long that it’s almost down to my hips, so when I go out, I like to keep my hair up if at all possible. Depending on the length, color and style of your hair, you may or may not like to leave your hair loose. For a dress like this, though, I always favor a sleek, pulled back look because it puts the emphasis on your gorgeous facial features (hello high cheekbones, even if you’ve never had them before) and the bombshell bod you have (and may have been hiding!). For this reason, I adore a simple topknot. If you have no technical skill, it’s totally fine, because the “messy topknot” has been in season just about every season for the past few years.

Go big or go home, at Lanvin in 2010---you do not need to go this extreme

If you’re intimidated by piling every last hair on your head, take it easy. Plenty of celebs have rocked a less intense topknot with much success.  Kylie Minogue lets out a few strands, which frames her face, and also softens the look a little bit, lest you worry about coming off as too much of a diva.

Now I’m no expert on makeup, in fact, I can hardly put mascara on properly, but my personal mantra has always been: eyes or lips, pick one, accentuate it. I take the rest of my face as a clean palette, and try to only highlight features, but have not been known to take risks in that department. If you have any tips or tricks of the trade, post them here in the comments, I’d love to learn how to do my makeup! So friends, if you ever fear that you need to impress that special someone, think again—Rent the Runway is ready to help you take that call me beyond the maybe.

With love,
