Summertime usually means a summer job, but if you are lucky you scored a coveted internship role! Internship positions are hard to come by, but committing to one means that you will have very little time for social time with friends this summer. The good news is that there is a lot to be excited about with your big role, so make the most of it in order to have a great summer!
1) Know that this experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Many people applied to get this position and yet you got it! Know that you are so fortunate to be there and others wish they could. Keeping that mind set will help you to be humble and enjoy the time you have there.
2) Networking is key!
One of the biggest benefits to having an internship is getting to meet tons of people in the field that you are most interested in. Most of them really want to talk to you too and would love to share their story about how they got where they were. Ask them to coffee one day and pick their brains! Remember, sometimes it is more about who you know!
3) Soak in as much information as possible.
This opportunity is meant to teach you, so learn as much as you can. Be genuinely interested and you will enjoy your time even more. Granted, everyone has an off day here and there, but you only have one summer with this amazing role so take advantage of all that it has to offer!
I have been loving my new internship and hope that you all are too! And if you did not get the chance this summer, try again! Internships are a great way to figure out what you really are passionate about.
And, of course, check out Rent the Runway for some great career looks for that next big meeting or interview!
Now go knock the socks of your new boss!
