A simple way to represent your home state in a college dorm room or a new apartment is making a pin map of your state!
The only materials you need are a map of your home state, pins (the more the better), and thin thread.
You cut out the map and then keep the paper down by pinning it just around the outside. The more pins you put down the better because then the thread will look thicker. Around your home town you could pin a heart shape, or really what ever shape you want. Next peel the map out of the pins and view the shape. The next step is simple and very mindless, but depending on how thick you want the end product to come out you might end up spending a good amount of time threading around the pins.
