It is still summertime which means there is still time left to lose that Freshman 15 (or whatever weight you gained during college this past year)! I’ve been going to the gym everyday, so I know what styles are in and what styles are a no-no.

First, neon is in. I don’t know who decided that wearing neon purple leggings to the gym was in, but everyone does it, and when you lose that Freshman 15, they will look good. Most people do not wear a neon top and a neon bottom, but if you want to be bold, definitely go for it. Two neons is definitely more trendy than none. The neon running sneakers are also a hot commodity right now. I just got my pair and they look great and feel great (double win).

For bottoms, leggings are the trend, even though its summer and people should be wearing shorts, everyone wears leggings. I wear shorts everyday and I normally cannot find a single other person wearing shorts. I guess the leggings suck in the fat everywhere unlike a lose pair of running shorts. Also, biker shorts are popular. Any are acceptable, its more about the individual preference.

Shirts on the other hand are optionally according to some people. Some women just wear sports bras. In my opinion, a shirt should be required no matter how skinny you are. Shirts range from the baggy t-shirt, to the very sexy open back, low cut, push up, tight tank tops. Definitely decide which kind of shirt most represents you, because the style of your shirt says a lot about you, especially at the gym. I usually wear a baggy sorority tank, but the tight tank tops are definitely more popular and hide your sweat marks more.

The last thing you need to look extra good while breaking a sweat is a good non-slip headband. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors and which ever makes your summer tan stick out while keeping those fly-aways out of your face is perfect.

The most popular brand people wear is LuLu Lemon Athletica, but if that is not in your budget, definitely check out their styles and find some cheaper ones at Nike, Target, or anywhere you can find some gym clothes that will motivate you to get that body ready to go back to school in the fall.

Studies say that new gym clothes motivate you to go to the gym, but really it does not matter what you wear, as long as you are at the gym. Burning those calories as you break a sweat to lose those pounds is the goal at the gym, not finding a new boyfriend. By the end of your work out, every clothing item is so sweaty that it is a different shade, so just find clothes that you feel comfortable in and allow you to get the optimal workout. Soon, those pounds will be coming off and you will be ready to rent any Rent the Runway dress, looking extra hot for a night out in college to begin a new year.
