Football season gaining on us. As the dog days of summer wind down, we find ourselves looking forward to tailgates, cooler temps, and a good ‘ole fashioned battle on the gridiron. Naturally, as the seasons change so do our taste buds. Crisp apples replace sweet strawberries and nachos become the staple food at game-day gatherings. Whether you’re the host or the guest, it’s always nice to whip up something tasty and unique for your friends and family. After all, food brings people together! What better way to get people talking than a stellar nacho recipe? Nachos don’t always have to be boring (or associated with Mexican restaurants.) They are actually pretty versatile when it comes to cooking. For example, the recipe featured today involves grilling! Take a look.

Grilled Nachos

Serves 6

Ingredients:

1 bag of Scoop! Tostitos tortilla chips

1/2 pound ground beef (you can do more if you want meatier nachos)

1 package of taco seasoning or spices of your choice

1 cup chopped green & red pepper

1-2 tablespoons chopped Anaheim hot pepper

1-2 tablespoons black olives (I forgot to add them when I took these pictures, but I’ve used them before)

1-2 tablespoons pickled jalapenos

1 cup chopped tomato

1 1/3 cup Mozzarella cheese

Directions:

1. Cook the meat in a skillet on stove top. Add seasonings.

2. Use 2 round baking sheets and cover with aluminum foil.

3. Place chips on the pans and top with remaining ingredients.

4. Grill at medium-low temp for about 15 minutes or until cooked.

That’s it! You’re done! You could also bake these and it would be just as good. Grilling gives the nachos a smoky flavor, however, that makes them so flavorful. All the measurements are approximations. Just adjust them depending on how many people you will be feeding. You could also add or substitute other ingredients to make it truly your own.
