With the rising cost of movie tickets it’s no wonder people are turning to on-demand internet streaming media such as Netflix or Hulu to catch their latest flicks. If you still miss going to the movies but don’t want to pay $12 a ticket, go to an advanced movie screening. Many websites such as Screening Exchange, Gofobo, and Film Metro offer free advanced movie screenings in major cities across the US. Not only do you get to watch an advanced movie for free but you can bring a friend, get promotional goodies, and win prizes! Many of these movie screenings are shown weeks in advanced before the movie’s premiere date. The movie shown may be unedited and you may see a few extra scenes you would not see in a regular screening. Sometimes you might even get to see an actor from the movie attend the screening.
Here are some tips for advanced movie screening newbies:
These websites send emails about free screenings so check your email often
The websites may make you take a short quiz about your demographics
Don’t forget to print out your passes
Go at least 1 ½ hour in advanced (as it is first come, first served)
Bring snacks to eat while waiting on the line to get into the movie and during the movie
Many college campuses also offer free advanced movie screenings.
If you are on a budget and still want to enjoy movies just sign up for free movie screenings at these websites and you’re good to go!
