And I’m not just talking about Fifty Shades of Grey. Intelligence is sexy, ladies. That is something we should all remember when midterms roll around and we’ve reached hour 20 buried in piles of books in the library. With school starting back up, it is the perfect time to remember the good old days of reading for fun, and learn to love books again! For those of us who don’t have time to reread Pride and Prejudice, clutches based on classics can help fill the void. From Chanel to Kate Spade, to DIY tutorials for those of us on a college budget (like this awesome tutorial). Beautiful books are abounding, and now they are helping us carry around our load instead of adding to it.
You can find this adorable clutch by Kate Spade on her website
Another “intelligent” fashion choice is the ever-classic librarian look. No, I’m not telling you to wear frumpy clothes and a slicked back bun. Instead, think cardigans, blazers, scarves, pleated or pencil skirts, cute glasses (they aren’t just for hipsters anymore!), and oxfords- thing we already love to wear in fall! Vintage-style dresses, circa 1950s and 60s are also great choices for this look! It’s preppy, it’s classic, and it’s elegant.
This Oscar de la Renta Plaid Wool Dress was featured in Elle’s “Plaid Perfection” Fall Trend Report, and can be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue
Whether you’re heading to an important interview, or just hanging out with friends, smart never goes out of style.
