If there’s one thing the crisp fall weather doesn’t allow, it’s smooth lips. Along with the cooler fresh air comes the inevitable chapped lip. With so many chapsticks and lip balms on the market, how could a girl ever choose one? Do these products even accomplish what they claim to?
As with other things, sometimes the best way to get what you need is to just do it yourself. So why not DIY a lip scrub that can scrub away fall and winter’s relentless harm done to our lips? Our protector and guardian from this awful, unavoidable cold weather lip staple is Honestly WTF and their DIY for sugar lip scrub. You can visit the full DIY here, but for now here is a quick synopsis.
What you’ll need:
- pure coconut oil
- honey
- brown sugar
- a teaspoon
- a tablespoon
- a mixing bowl
- an empty jar or 2.5 oz baby food jar
Now that you’ve gathered your ingredients, time to start DIYing!
First, ensure that the coconut oil has the perfect consistency: solid enough to utilize, but soft enough to handle. Then, combine this tablespoon of coconut oil with one tablespoon of honey. Mix them together until the mixture is free of clumps. According to Honesty WTF, coconut oil works wonders for your skin and body. Coconut oil moisturizes and nourishes the skin while cleansing and healing. What could be better?
Next, add two teaspoons of brown sugar and fold it into the two previous ingredients. Then add one teaspoon of just the oil from the coconut oil jar. Finally, take your mixture and transport your scrub to the jar. Keep refrigerated in order to ensure this scrub lasts up to two weeks.
Voilà! You are set and armed with a weapon against the harshness of the cold. Go on, kiss kiss!
