One of my favorite things to do in preparation for Halloween is decorating pumpkins. This year, my roommates and I were looking for fun new ways to decorate our pumpkins. I found many different designs for pumpkins all over Pinterest, but my favorite was a glittered chevron one! There is a great blog that teaches you step by step how to make the pumpkin and more, but I shortened it to post on here for your convenience.

I am obsessed with all things chevron, as you can see in my latest post, and even more in love with all things sparkley! Rent the Runway offers so many awesome glittery dresses which I will definitely be renting this month. Here is an awesome one by designer Trina Turk that combines my favorites this season: glitter and chevron!

Now on to making the pumpkin! You can buy a fake pumpkin if you want to bring it back out for next years Halloween, but I think it’s even more fun to buy the real thing and make a whole new design next year. Before personalizing your pumpkins, make sure you throughly wash and dry them so that your design can stand out.

First, spray paint or use acrylic paint in your favorite color for the background. I am very partial to pink, but any color would look marvelous against the pop of gold or silver.

Next, tape a chevron design all over the pumpkin. It is much easier than you would think and ensures clean chevron lines.

Now is time for my favorite part… the glitter! Any color glitter works, you could even go with black or orange to be festive. I personally love the way the gold stands out though. Use any kind of heavy duty liquid glue for the exposed pumpkin that is not covered by tape. Then pour the glitter all around on the glue. Stand the pumpkin up and shake off any extra glitter. I would wait about 20 or 30 minutes until removing the tape.

Once you have removed the tape, then voila! You have a fabulous pumpkin that will stand out against all of the plain orange ones.
